justMARC: Form, Force, and the Human Psyche

The work of justMARC is a study in relentless, visceral energy, rooted in a foundational mastery of the sculptural realm. Central to this practice is begrunzeling—the act of violently beating sheet metal into incredible human figurative forms. This stands in dialogue with large-scale installations in heavy steel plate and cast metals, which range from the abstract to the figurative. Completing the sculptural foundation are ceramics focused around violent discourse and argument, standing as monuments to a struggle of raw power and anatomical majesty.

This sculptural discipline eventually progressed into painting, carrying a sculptor's sense of weight and struggle to the canvas. The current portfolio is anchored by portraiture that bypasses introspection—an invasive process of climbing inside the subject to paint them from within. This psychological excavation extends into the Chaos series, which explores the darkness and anarchy of the human psyche, and the Sea series, where the turbulence of storms is often met by the haunting stillness of a single chair on the beach.
